Leaving Certificate students in Limerick are being advised to take the right steps to ensure their result celebrations are memorable for all the right reasons this weekend. Drinkaware.ie – a Mature Enjoyment of Alcohol in Society (MEAS) initiative - is urging students of 18 and over, who are legally entitled to drink, to eat before they head out, carry an ID card, look out for their friends and plan ahead how they will get home safely. MEAS, a registered charity was established in 2002 by the principal companies and trade organisations in the drinks industry to promote social responsibility within the industry and moderate consumption by those who choose to drink, in order to reduce alcohol abuse and related harm. CEO of MEAS, Ms Fionnuala Sheehan said: "After the tension and stress of the June exams and anxious wait for the results, students will be looking forward to celebrating on Wednesday." "We would encourage students to plan ahead and check out the drinkaware.ie website to ensure their night is one to remember for all the right reasons," said Ms Sheehan. Since its launch in November 2006, the drinkaware.ie website has emerged as the leading information portal for consumers on all aspects of alcohol and drinking. |
