Two separate investigations are underway into the tragic death of a man in Co Limerick last weekend.

64-year old John Joseph Wright from Glenmore in Caherdavin was killed while working at a waste disposal facility in Grange, near Ballyneety in Co Limerick last Friday.

It’s believed Mr Wright had collecting bottles and glasses from Limerick City before transporting them to the Mr Binman compound for recycling when he was killed.

The full details of the incident are not yet fully known, however it’s reported that the accident involved a dumper truck.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are said to be carrying out two separate investigations into the incident.

Mr Wright, was to be buried this Tuesday morning following his funeral mass at Christ the King Church, is survived by his wife Eileen, sons and daughter.

It’s the second tragic death at the waste recycling plant in Co Limerick. Last September 36-year old Kevin Fitzpatrick, originally from Derbyshire, died when the commercial rubbish bin in which he was understood to have been sleeping in, was emptied into a collection truck.

Mr Fitzpatrick, who had been living on the streets for a number of years between Limerick and England, was crushed to death.

His body was found at the Mr Binman facility in Grange when workers emptied the waste collection truck at the Grange compound.

A post mortem established that his death was caused by severe crush injuries.

Gardaí at Roxboro Road believe the victim had taken shelter in the bin and that he was alive when it was loaded on to the waste collection truck.
