A Jeep believed to have been purchased by a Limerick man from Ballyneety last week has turned out to be the vehicle sought by Gardai in Cork, who are investigating the murder of a man in Dunmanway last week.

44-year old Gary Bull, who had been living in a mobile home in Carrigdangan near Macroom for a number of years, was found dead in a slurry pit at a farm in West Cork.

Detectives investigating the English man’s death are understood to have received contact from a man who had bought a blue Izuzu jeep, which they had been seeking as part of their murder probe.

“The jeep was missing for a few days I believe and it was purchased in good faith by a person from Ballyneety.

When the person heard Gardai make an appeal for the whereabouts of the jeep on a news bulletin they contacted the investigating Gardai to let them know where the vehicle was,” a Garda source said.

Gardai are understood to have travelled from Cork to Ballyneety in Co Limerick on Tuesday evening (October 16) to take the jeep away for a full forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

Gary Bull is survived by his two children, aged 15 and 17, and his parents who are in their 70s.
