Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry in their investigations into an incident in Dooradoyle last weekend, which has left a youth in a critical condition in hospital.

A 19-year old male sustained serious head injuries in the Coolcrana area of Dooradoyle at around 11.30pm on last Friday night.

It’s believed the teenager was assaulted during a fight and that he hit his head on a footpath after falling to the ground.

He was brought to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital a short distance from where the incident occurred but he was later transferred to Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí at Roxboro Road on the south side of Limerick City are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 061-214340.

Separately, a man said to have been injured during an altercation last Wednesday at Convent Lane near King John's Castle remains in a critical condition in Cork University Hospital.

A man assaulted in the vicinity of Hyde Road last week is also understood to be in a serious condition in hospital with head injuries.

Gardai are again appealing for anyone with information in relation to any of the reported incidents to contact them.
