BMW is considering plans to launch an exclusively green car brand in addition to its BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce businesses. It is suggested that new US fuel economy standards are hitting the carmaker so hard it may be forced to create a fourth brand to sell environmentally-friendly cars.
The new business would sell vehicles of a kind considered too extreme to sit comfortably within the company’s existing ranges.
