![]() Cathal Loughnane, from Oranmore in Galway was interior designer to the new Citroen C5. Galway born car designer Cathal Loughnane had a significant input into the design of the new Citroen C5 car, launched at Citroen dealers this week. And Cathal was on hand last week for the Irish launch of the new C5 in Wexford. Thirty-year-old Cathal, originally from Oranmore has worked at the Citroen design centre in France since 1999, when he gained a three month internship following the completion of a Dublin based design course, which was sponsored by Citroen in Ireland. Since then, Cathal, who is a former ‘Bish’ student, and a graduate from the Bolton Street DIT Mechanical Engineering degree course, has had a significant input into many new car concept designs at Citroen. He has worked with Alex Malval and Andreas Stump, leading car designers at Citroen to develop his now internationally renowned expertise in internal car design. He is particularly proud of his significant input into the design of the Citroen C Cactus Concept car, which Citroen launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. Cathal had full responsibility for the interior design of the car, which received impressive reviews from car experts around the world. The Galway born car designer has come of age. Cathal is a son of Sean and Ann Loughnane, well-known Galway business people who have been in the meat trade for many years. Loughnanes had formerly butcher shops in Dominick Street and Forster Court and now provide a wholesale meat supply. |
