THE new Citroen Nemo/Fiat Fiorino/ Peugeot Bipper van has shared the 2009 “International Van of the Year” award at the International Commercial Vehicles Show in Hanover. This new small van, available with some technical differences across three brands is the result of a joint venture by PSA Peugeot Citroen and FIAT groups, and is sold as the same vehicle rebadged by each manufacturer. The prize has been awarded by a jury of journalists representing 20 European countries, which praised the small vans for their 'the originality of concept...compact size, optimised load volume, payload, practicality and superb handling'. The vans received 112 points out of a possible 140. The low-consumption and CO2 emissions (62.7 mpg and 119 g CO2/km in the combined cycle with the 1.4 litre HDi engine) were another argument in of the Citroen and Peugeot models, while Fiat uses a 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine. At a dynamic level, members of the jury applauded the vehicle’s engines, the availability of an electronically-controlled manual gearbox and its agile road holding. All three vans are now available in the Irish market. |
