Lexus Ireland has just sold its 1,000th Lexus Hybrid. Lexus introduced the world's first hybrid SUV in 2005, the RX 400h. This SUV has allowed customers to enjoy increased power and performance with significantly lower emissions. The RX 400h continues to have the lowest CO2 emissions in its segment. This was quickly followed by the GS450h, which delivers big car performance with the fuel economy of a regular 2 litre family car. Last year, Lexus pushed the boundaries of automotive technology again by introducing the LS 600h, which has redefined luxury and performance and is the most powerful hybrid vehicle available in the world today. Driving a Lexus Hybrid allows owners to reduce their impact on the environment without sacrificing luxury or performance. When compared with a conventional comparable engine it delivers less CO2 emissions, less nitrogen oxide emissions and less hydrocarbon emissions along with better fuel economy and an all round better performance. Hybrid technology continues to evolve and will undoubtedly produce many more environmental benefits as it progresses over the coming years.Lexus currently remains the only premium manufacturer producing hybrids. However, almost all premium manufacturers have announced plans to produce hybrids in the next few years. Commenting on the announcement, Mark Teevan, Managing Director, Lexus Ireland said: "I have no doubt in my mind that hybrid technology represents the future for premium car buyers. The success of the Lexus Hybrid in Ireland is a testament to this, as well as the unique driving experience, Lexus hybrid offers. As the leader in hybrid technology, we will continue to challenge conventional wisdom and are looking forward to expanding our hybrid range in the future". |
