SKODA has taken the wraps off the new Octavia model, which is due here in Ireland in 2009.
The new model, which is Skoda’s most successful car, has some subtle design changes. From the front the key changes include newly shaped, bolder headlamps, a more robust radiator grille and a one-piece bumper. The changes to the rear part of the car include a new tail lamp covers and a dynamic bumper with integrated cat eyes. Interior changes are to the Skoda audio and navigation systems. The steering wheel, the dashboard (now white-backlit), the air conditioning controls and the decorative strips on the doors and the central console have all been redesigned. There are new upholstery fabrics are available across all equipment levels (Classic, Ambiente and Elegance). Skoda will offer a new adaptive xenon headlamp system to enhance the vehicle's active safety. Passive safety has been improved by installing front WOKS headrests for effective rear impact protection (in all equipment levels). Skoda claims further changes, this time under the bonnet. Skoda will offer a brand new Volkswagen developed 1.4 litre TSI/90 kW petrol engine. In the new Octavia this turbo-charged 1.4 litre and 1.8 litre petrol engines can be combined with a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic DSG transmission. |
