Page 1 of 2 Ssangyong has launched the new Rexton II to the Irish market. With many exterior and interior changes the Rexton II has a renewed style, while maintaining the essential elements that Rexton is renowned for. The Rexton II trademark grille has been refined, as have the headlamps to give a new appearance. The rear styling and unique character lines identify the Rexton II as a new breed of 4x4. Privacy glass, alloy wheels and roof rails make the finishing touches. ![]() The new Ssangyong Rexton II is now available with improved styling and performance from a 186bhp engine. Prices start at €44,995 before delivery charges. Urban interior styling in black tones fits well with this 4x4. The driver-centered instrument panel is convenient, the gearbox with the chrome & leather gear knob, centre fascia and easy-to-read clusters also contribute to the style of the vehicle. Convenient features that you expect from a premium 4x4 are available on the new Rexton II. These include cruise control on automatic models, electric front and rear windows, electronically adjustable and heated mirrors, headlamp leveling and automatic climate controlled air conditioning. The Rexton II comes with 7 seats as standard. The second and third row can be folded various ways including 60/40 split to accommodate driver and occupants, allowing maximum space and comfort. The Rexton II Sports model with 186bhp has even more features as standard including 3-person memory system on driver's seat, powered and heated seats, LED Instrument clusters, rear air spoiler, 6 stack CD system, leather upholstery and permanent all-wheel-drive. The Rexton II with its XDI 270 engine cranks out a hefty 165bhp or 186bhp with wide-ranging torque for responsive acceleration. Matched with the T-Tronic 5-speed automatic transmission with FI style manual shift mode, the XDI 270 achieves even higher levels of performance and economy. Drive smoothness is further enhanced by dual action gas-filled shock absorbers, stabilizer bar and coil springs. The CO2 emissions rating is either 228 or 233g/km depending on the model chosen, which means a potential hefty VRT rare increase come July 1 and also higher road tax for passenger models from then on. To enhance road handling and safety the Rexton II features TOD (Torque on Demand) which controls the distribution of power according to driving conditions. This along with TCS (Traction Control System) allows power to be perfectly distributed for optimum directional stability. In addition, advanced technology in the form of a permanent AWD is available on the 186bhp Sports model system. This distributes power constantly to all four wheels for quick acceleration with its multifunction Electronic Stability Programmed (ESP). In order to protect occupants and vehicle unexpected dangers, Ssangyong has equipped Rexton II with an advanced safety system based on the frame structure. This was made possible by expanding the brake size to fit the 186bhp engine model, by applying quick response type booster. |
