Suzuki Ireland has introduced a saloon version of the SX4 to the Irish market. The SX4 maintains the five-door's unique 'greenhouse' feature, with the glass dipping below the hood line at the A pillar, creating an interesting quarter window adjacent to the side mirrors.

The key development concept is an 'upright' design, which promises great cabin comfort, despite the compact body size.

The SX4 chassis is engineered to provide a smooth and supple ride, while the high body rigidity will satisfy those who prefer to drive in a sportier style. This is a car that can take on motorways or winding country roads and tight corners with equal ease.

Suzuki's new design concept, influenced by the latest European design trends, sees the SX4 saloon adopt wide treads and large wheels, which stress the solid structure of the body, while a strong wedge shape projects an active lifestyle look.

This is enhanced by alloy wheels, front fog lights and folding exterior door mirrors, halogen headlights and body-coloured bumpers, door mirrors and handles. For visibility, there are two-speed and variable intermittent windscreen wipers, and a heated rear window.

As standard, the SX4 GL saloon also comes with remote central locking, power steering, air conditioning and electric windows and mirrors, pollen filter, audio controls on steering wheel and more than enough storage compartments and extra interior space for the essentials you carry.

The SX4 saloon comes with a 1.6 litre petrol engine with VVT. It is available with either a sporty 5-speed manual transmission or a convenient 4-speed automatic transmission. The saloon shares many attributes of its hatchback sibling, including the rigid body and suspension mounts and links.

MacPherson struts and rear torsion beam suspension, combined with large 15-inch wheels and tyres with 1,500mm front tread and 1,495mm rear tread, deliver an excellent balance of comfort and a feeling of stability. The braking system, with a 10-inch booster and front ventilated disc brakes, provides excellent stopping power.

Safety features on the SX4 saloon includes Automatic Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD). Front seatbelt pre-tensioners and 3-point ELR seatbelts are standard for all occupants on all grades for all seats. Dual SRS airbags along with side and curtain airbags are fitted on all models. SX4 saloon prices start at €17,495 for the GL model, before delivery charges.
