Toyota has launched a new and more powerful version of the Hilux pushing engine power to 194bhp and boosting acceleration, prices will be available later.

The new version uses the 3.0 litre D-4D engine which has been boosted to deliver 194bhp. This extra power plus a new higher torque figure of 430Nm in a range from 1600 to 3200rom thanks to a Toyota Motorsport diesel engine performance kit, gives the Hilux impressive acceleration.

The new 0 to 100km/hr acceleration time has been slashed from 13 seconds to 10.5 seconds for the manual versions on the new Hilux.

This new Hilux will be available in limited numbers. This new high powered version comes with dedicated 15-inch alloy wheels and stainless steel mesh grille. The cabin is finished in a special two-tone grey leather, with heated front seats.

This new Hilux will be available during the summer. Prices and full specification details will be announced nearer the on sale date.

There are few challenges left for Toyota's mighty Hilux, a car that has toughed it out in the world's most extreme environments for decades and which only last year made history by conquering the Arctic to become the first car to drive to the Magnetic North Pole.
