Being, as I am, technologically retarded, means that I cannot halt unwanted e-mails arriving into my mail box. At least 20 times each day messages come in and all seem to want to flog Viagra in some form or other. I know this because I have to see part of the text before I delete it. If anybody else receives such e-mails and is anxious to reply to the senders I wonder would they be good enough to inform the sellers that at my stage in life I am praying for a happy death and am not anxious to try their products or receive their e-mails.
It is ironic that I met Lulu and not Mick O’Dwyer. Lulu was here in Limerick for a world premiere of one of Richard Harris’s films. At that time she was married to Bee Gee singer Maurice Gibb.
The morning after the premiere, I brought Lulu down to the Good Shepherd Convent as she wanted some Limerick lace. She appeared in a mini-skirt so short that it was scarcely worth her while wearing it. But the saintly nuns did not bat an eyelid and made her a presentation of the lace, which she greatly appreciated. I have nothing against the models. But why were they used to publicise club activities? Limerick 37 has a very talented ladies squad and why, I wonder, were members of that squad not used to highlight club happenings?. Staying with sport I must say I would not like to be a traveller on the Ennis Road trying to be in time for a flight at Shannon next Sunday from mid-day. .
What I can only describe as ‘organised’ traffic chaos is sure to happen. Munster return to Thomond Park for a 1pm kick-off. Just a few hundred yards from there two important games will be played at the Gaelic Grounds, the All-Ireland camogie final and the Munster club senior hurling championship semi-final between Adare and the Tipperary champions.
