Page 1 of 3 Shocked and surprised after getting sudden letter from City Councillor...
The difference between a surprise and a shock is, I believe, a thin one. But I experienced both emotions the other afternoon. When I returned home there was a document in the hallway. Amazingly it was from a member of City Council.
Thus when I realised it was from a certain Councillor, my interest grew. But it quickly diminished when I read the contents. It had nothing to do with the derelict sites, drug and alcohol abuse, or the many other major issues of the day. It was to keep me informed that as a EU/EEA National travelling or staying temporarily in another state belonging to the European Economic Area that I am entitled to receive medical care should I become ill or have an accident. It went on to explain this so-called major issue and to list the countries where it applies. But I am not covered in Andorra or Monaco. How sad! I suppose to hear from a city councillor is sort of good news.
But I did not ask for this rubbish. It is gone off in my recycle bag. The next time I receive this kind of junk, from any source, I intend to waste an envelope and send it back to whoever sends it, without a stamp.
