Relief in county, as planning appeal board turns down superdump plans

Limerick residents will be relieved at the decision by An Bord Pleanála to uphold Cork County Council's decision to refuse permission for a superdump at Ballyguyroe near Kildorrery, according to Limerick Fianna Fáil TD Niall Collins.

Deputy Collins was contacted by a number of residents in the Glenanaar, Ardpatrick, and Glenosheen areas on the Limerick/Cork border who had concerns about the proposed superdump.

“I worked with the residents of Glenanaar, Ardpatrick and Glenosheen for the last number of months on this issue to highlight their concerns to the relevant authorities.”
“Many people had concerns about the proposed location of the dump and the effects it posed to have on natural amenities in the larger area.”

“I am happy to learn that An Bord Pleanála has upheld Cork County Council's decision to refuse permission in this instance,” Deputy Collins said.

Deputy O’Sullivan ‘shocked’ at breast cancer report

Labour health spokeswoman Jan O’Sullivan has said that the conclusion by Dr.Ann O’Doherty in her report on Portlaoise Hospital that “the safety, quality and standard of many aspects of Breast Imaging Service…fell well below achievable best imaging practice and that this resulted in a significant and avoidable delay in the diagnosis of breast cancer” is very shocking.
