Community organisations urged to apply for Government funding

Community and voluntary organisations in County Limerick can now apply for funding from the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs under two recently announced programmes of grants.

That’s according to local Fianna Fáil TD and Deputy Government Chief Whip, John Cregan, who is encouraging all local community and voluntary organisations to apply for the grants.

“Organisations with an income of less that €100,000 per annum are eligible for these grants and I am certain that they will be of interest to many voluntary and community organisations in County Limerick,” Deputy Cregan said.

The first programme offers two schemes of once-off grants. The scheme of refurbishment grants focuses on organisations that are actively addressing or where evidence of need has been clearly identified in their communities.

“A scheme of equipment repair has been established to support the activities of local community and voluntary organisations that are addressing disadvantage in their communities,” Deputy Cregan added.

“The second programme offers funding for training grants to enhance the activities of community based organisations,” Deputy Cregan said.

He concluded by saying that there is no closing date for the receipt of applications for the grants, but funding is limited so he advised organisations to submit applications as soon as possible.

Applications forms are available from the Department’s website at www.pobail.ie
