Scouting History 1927
Fr Tom and Fr Ernest Farrell and official approval of the Catholic Church the Catholic Boy Scouts of Ireland (CBSI) was formed. After forming a committee which was later termed the organising council of the Catholic Boy Scouts of Ireland the council drafted a constitution using Boy Scouts of America documentation and advice from others from University College Dublin. The brothers used every opportunity to encourage their colleagues to establish troops in their parishes. Consideration was given to the fact that CBSI would attract members from existing youth organisations such as clubs and solidarities Fr Tom met with heads of the various religious orders to provide information.

Management Meeting
Held last Wednesday evening in curraghchase ( Thanks Bobby for the tea biscuits were a bit scarce..) our provincial commissioner Pat Roche attended and made himself known to those in attendance. A warm welcome was extended and one could say he got to see the nitty gritty of how the management committee within our scout county operate. He spoke highly of our county and offered his support for the future.

25th Limerick Shannon Banks
A Venture Scout ‘CHA’ Challenge was set to the 25 Limerick Venture Section. The idea was that the new venture scouts would be dropped 25 - 30 Km from Killaloe, Co. Clare in pairs on Friday night; they received an envelope which included the rules, location of the finish (Killaloe Water Activities Centre), map, pencil, and topper. The instructions told them to find where they were, keep a log of their journey and carry out two from three given projects which made them interact with people as they made their way over the two days to Killaloe. Unfortunately as we came to the start day we were left with three Ventures (Jamie, Nathan and Jeanette). On the final night and Sunday part of the hike the group of three were joined by Kenneth who had to work on the Saturday. For the first attempt of such an activity it went very well. The main lesson learnt by the group was the power of the Neckerchief as people along the route were very supportive indeed and a big thank you goes to you all for making this a success.

Volunteer Fair
Limerick Scout County was shown off to the highest level by those who were at our stand last Saturday in Limerick City Hall. There was plenty of positive feed back from those present also lots of reminiscing and encouragement for the future of scouting within our county. Special Thanks to the leaders who made themselves available to man the stand (so to speak) on the day.
