Page 1 of 2 Scouting History 1928 CBSI was established here in Limerick following a meeting held in St Munchins College in January. Preparations were made to set up various troops in city parishes. Troops were named as follows 1st Limerick (St Michaels), 2nd Limerick (St Mary’s), 3rd Limerick (St Johns), 4th Limerick (St Munchins) and 5th Limerick (St Josephs).
From that day to the present where possible the troops or groups as they are now known parade in the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade together. 25th Limerick Shannon Banks The scout and venture scout sections visited Thomond Scout Centre, Murroe from the 16-18 Nov 2007. The Saturday was absolute shocker weather wise and the wet weather programme came into play all-around. Sunday was a bit better and the scouts built a bridge across the river. 42nd Limerick Meelick On Sunday 4th November the Meelick scout held an orienteering event in Cratloe woods in warm autumn conditions.
The Scout course started at 11.00am and had 16 kites to find this was challenging to all and the Cubs who started at 12.00p.m completed a course of 10 kites, which was a challenge to the cubs. The Beavers went for a short hike in the woods collecting interesting pieces of natural material.
