IN a stroke of luck that would turn the stomach of any Pop Idol wannabe, talented Limerick singer Catherine Ireton has been plucked from obscurity for the chance of overnight international stardom.
After auditioning to work on the new project from Stuart Murdoch of Scottish chart-toppers Belle & Sebastian, 26-year-old Catherine from Annacotty was chosen as the lead voice for God Help The Girl who released their eponymously-titled debut album through Rough Trade Records this week.

HOTLY-tipped Irish outfit O Emperor celebrate the release of debut single 'Po' with a show at Baker Place this Friday, June 26.
The Cork-based five-piece have been making huge strides of late. O Emperor will headline the Hot Press New Band Stage at Oxegen on Friday July 10, testament to the extent in which they have impressed the ears of the Irish music industry.

BUNRATTY Folk Park, County Clare, is the venue for a new Summer
Concert Series announced by Shannon Heritage, to enhance their evening
entertainment programme.
The Bunratty Folk and Variety Club is being presented in association
with Ennis-based company Production 63. It comprises six concerts in
June and July featuring a mix of entertainment from traditional Irish
music to comedy.

IRISH showband legend Dickie Rock has announced a concert performance at the South Court Hotel on Saturday June 20.
One of Ireland's most successful singers, Dickie Rock had 25 Irish
hits from 1963 to 1983, surpassed only by the Beatles, Elvis Presley,
Cliff Richard, David Bowie and the Rolling Stones. During his time with
the Miami Showband, Dickie attracted the kind of mass hysteria normally
reserved for The Beatles and more recently boybands like Westlife.
