Praise for Garda seizure of heroin in City

SINN Fein spokesman in Limerick, Maurice Quinlivan has praised local Gardaí after a seizure of heroin with a value of €300,000 in the City, but has called for a dedicated drugs task force to be deployed in Limerick.
 
Cappamore a principal winner in ‘Pride Of Place’ competition

CAPPAMORE has received national recognition after being named as one of the principal winners in Cooperation Ireland’s Pride of Place Competition 2008.
More than 500 community representatives from the 32 counties attended the annual award’s ceremony in Cappoquin, Co Waterford on Saturday night and
the main address was given by President Mary McAleese.
 
City’s vulnerable falling prey to ‘loan sharks’

A CITY councillor has highlighted the fact that the vulnerable are falling prey to unscrupulous moneylenders in the run up to Christmas and is urging local people to beware.
Cllr Jim Long said that he received a very worrying phonecall last Friday from a women in her late twenties who was “in distress” having sought advice from an agency “in relation to securing a loan so as she could purchase a PC for her son as a gift for Christmas”.
 
Limerick Alzheimer Society unveils its fundraiser
