Grand Prix qualifier. Elsewhere, Paul O’Shea had a
successful outing at Pinerolo, Italy, rounding off his visit with a
third in the Grand Prix on the Cavalier-bred Shannondale Macalla.

Saints strike the right notes to earn a football semi-final place
ST SENAN’S have secured their place in the semi-final of the Live 95FM
Limerick Senior Football Championship.
It came by way of a slender 0-11 to 0-10 win over arch-rivals Newcastle
West at the Gaelic Grounds, a fixture moved to headquarters after
Dromcollogher was declared unplayable. Ian Ryan, who turned down
an offer only last month to join the Australian Football League as a
rookie, was central to the outcome.

FULL marks to the organising committee of Listowel’s 150th Harvest
Festival to announce a reduction from seven to five days of their
festival meeting (although advertisements for the week long event were
still running on national radio at the weekend).
It became another victim of the dreadful weather, resulting in the
cancellation of all the flat races scheduled for the week and instead
have an all National Hunt Festival, which opened yesterday (Tuesday)
and continues through until Saturday, in time for Kerry supporters to
head to Croke Park for their All-Ireland Senior Football Final showdown
with Tyrone.
