HOLDERS Adare and Kilmallock have been installed as joint favourites to win the Live 95FM Limerick Senior Hurling Championship, with the quarter-finals all listed to go ahead next weekend.

Hospital bookmaker Paddy McAuliffe has the pair marked-up at 2/1, followed next by Ahane at 9/2 and Granagh/Ballingarry next at 5/1.

Patrickswell and Western Gaels are both priced at 6/1, with Garryspillane and Doon both rated at 7/1 to win the blue riband of club hurling on Shannonside.

Twelve months ago, Adare swept their rivals away with great ease, particularly Croom in what proved a most lop-sided final at the Gaelic Grounds.

Ger O’Loughlin’s XV put their John Daly Cup on the line when they run-up against Western Gaels in Newcastle West on Saturday next (3pm).

It will be recalled that the Gaels came from way off the pace to eliminate finalists Croom last time out.

Kilmallock, who have dominated underage ranks in recent times, are out against Patrickswell in Bruff on Sunday evening, 6pm.

Although Kilmallock will be fancied to come through here, they certainly will earn it against an outfit looking to re-establish itself once more as the top force at the highest grade, and with Peter O’Reilly and Barry Foley scoring these days almost for fun.

The all-East confrontation of Ahane and Doon has been arranged for Caherconlish on Saturday (6pm) while the weekend programme is completed by the attractive pairing of Granagh/Ballingarry and Garryspillane who meet at Kilmallock’s Fitzgerald Park on Sunday, 3.30pm.
