The Banogue GAA club benefit was a big success on Saturday when all ten races were sponsored and a big attendance watched some splendid racing over various distances, including three sweep finals.

Fastest winner over the standard distance was the aptly named Fastaway Star (Larkhill Jo-Quin No Star). Ideally drawn on the inside she made every yard when having her fastest ever win when scoring by two lengths in 28.65 in the A2 final for Dan Flynn of Meelick and trainer Denis P O’Malley of Drombanna in a race sponsored by the Old Mill Bar, Croom.

There was an all local line-up in the Woodlands House Hotel sponsored A6 final which also produced a clear cut winner. Tyrap Light (Boherduff Light-Ballymac Slippy), owned by David Carroll from Bruree was away very fast from trap six. He led at the first bend from Lisnafulla Joey (4), owned by John Barrett, junior, from Feohanagh, and the issue was never in doubt as Tyrap Light went on for his third win in a row, from four starts, to win by five lengths in 29.20. Kumula (1) was third, a head behind Lisnafulla Joey, for Mrs Patricia Barry from Kilmallock.

Croom owner Michael Purtill continued his recent run of success when his Tarbrook Misty (Elite State-Narof Ranger) came with a late effort to take the Croom Concrete A1 in 28.80 from Mossy Ned (5), owned by Brendan Moore from Ballylanders with Amigan Girl (1), owned by Jimmy and Master Michael White and trained by James Roche in third place.

Members of the Nine Out Of Ten Cats syndicate from Athlacca knew that their Pama Joe (Tucks Mein-Elka Pearl) was a winner long before the finish. Showing great early pace he led throughout and swept to the biggest winning margin of the night when having a ten lengths win in 28.91 in the Donie Daffy Car Sales novice 1. Lash Out (4), owned in Oola by Morgan O’Neill was second when one length in front of J Murphy’s, Sunset Joe (5).

Kilmallock owner, Noel Neenan, sent in the winner of the Shamrock Gaels GAA club A4. Breaking well from trap six his Athlacca Rebel (Tims Crow-Cranagh Flyer) was always clear out front and he went on to be a four lengths winner in 29.17 in an A4.

South Limerick owners certainly had a successful time in terms of ownership and Hows That Man (Sonic Flight-Cosmic Rumble) , a 5/2 chance, got a flyer from trap six in the South Of Ireland Crushing And Plant Hire A5.

Owned by the Six Bad Men syndicate from Kilmallock he was in front all the way when having a four lengths win in 29.25 from Inislosky Tagger (3), owned by Master W Casey in O’Briens’s Bridge who was a length in front of I Love Cats (4), owned by Mrs Maureen Liddy. The other fast starter, Callaghan Corkery’s, Kilmallock, owned, Selinas Dazzler was baulked.

Proceedings began with the Plunketts Pharmacy sponsored A7 which provided an interesting contest. Eds Lee (1), owned by Oliver O’Brien of Brurree and Michael Mortell’s, Newcastle West, Loghill Lad (2) both showed best early pace. But it was Handsome Pauline (Crash-Eimears Delight), owned by Padraig Reale who finished best and she came through to beat Eds Lee by half a length in 29.53.

The Zurich Insurance novice 700 also saw the winner come from behind. Inislosky Wren (Hotshow Ben-Countrywide Star) scored for Mrs Mary Crotty of O’Brien;s Bridge by a length and a half in 40.07 from Sandy Cheeks (5), owned by Liam Keyes in Clarina.

Bleach Rocket (Larkhill Jo-Perez Gold) finished well to take the Liam Lynch Quarries S1 over 300 yards for trainer Pat Conway and owner Michael Conway from Clarina when beating the Motor Trade syndicate in the city owned, go Seve Go (1) by two and a half lengths.
