Following the success of the opening meeting of the local, at Glin, coursing action switches to Clarina this weekend, with the two-day Regional club event.

As part of a fund raising drive, the club held a benefit at the Markets Field last Saturday in conjunction with Mungret-St Paul's ladies football club.

Fastest winner of the night was the Pat O'Connor-trained McGuigans Gold who won the A1 in 28.65. Joe Banba (1) was third, beaten three and a half lengths.

Mary Crotty of O'Brien's Bridge supplied the winner of the A0-A1 when her Belleisle Bandit (Daves Mentor-Belleisle Dolly) finished well to win by a length and a half in 28.76. Kimfresh Kuyt, (3), owned by Nicola Downes of Killalloe, and the James Roche-trained Amigan Girl (6) were baulked at the first bend.

The wait for a win since August 6th was worthwhile for Clement Ryan when his Right Bargain (Droopys Kewell-Minnies Divine) came flying out of trap two in the A3 sweep final. He made every yard, beating Banbas Vieri by two and a half lengths in 28.77 with Nicola Downes, Killaloe, owned, Toms Story (3), half a length behind.

Parteen owner, Tom Fitzgerald, must have been delighted when his Ocean Lucy (Larkhill Jo-Wonderful Chance) had her first win from six starts, taking the €650 prize in the A4 final. She was in front at the first bend and made all for a three lengths win in 28.89.

More success came when Joe Williams from Rathkeale, supplied the winner of the A8 final. His Black To White (Tucks Mein-Shaunas Flash) made all from trap four for a seven lengths win in 29.04 from the reserve in trap six, Finally Arrived, trained by Pat O'Connell for James P Ryan.

There was an impressive run by Lakeofexcellence (What About Rio-Widows Cottage) in an A5. Owned in Mungret by Jack McGann and having his second win in three starts, Lakeofexcellence swept to a decisive six lengths win in 29.31.

Mary Crotty from O'Brien's Bridge, is enjoying a recent run of success. This was continued in the novice 3 when her Inislosky Linnet (Hotshow Ben-Countrywide Star) led from the second bend to score by three parts of a length in 29.76 from Rathmale Topper (1), owned by Patrick Gavin with the John Collins owned, Ballinaguile Son (3), a length back, third.

Another to impress was Razldazl Mike (Fortune Mike-Kincraigh Duchess). Trained by Neilus O'Connell for Tom Ryan of Mungret he returned to form when showing good early pace in the open 550. He made every yard for a three lengths win in 29.99 from Miss Allison Quinn's, Pallaskenry, owned Endless Wood (3).

Best performance on Thursday came from the Ray Fleming trained Pride N Passion, owned by the Bridge Boys syndicate from Sixmilebridge. He won his heat of an A3 puppy sweep by seven and a half lengths in 28.94.

The Sally Williams-trained Google Harry won win his heat in 29.30 with La Roi (1) third for owner John Boyce who will doubly represented in the final which has €1,225 for the winner. A litter sister of La Rio, Lightning Karalla (Sineads Slaney-Karalla) got up close home to win her heat in 29.43.

Trainer Denis P O'Malley from Drombanna had Killonaghan Lark (Larkhill Jo-Dalcash Relief) in good fettle for the Bad Apples syndicate from Barna when she led from the third bend to be a seven lengths winner of an A6 in 29.07.

Bob Shanahan's Chosen Magic won an A3 in 29.34 by a head and Vincent Purtill's Ballinveala Omar took the novice 3 in 29.99.
