In the immediate aftermath of his win, Lee told Sky Sports:  “If Emanuel (Steward) had his way, he'd have me fighting again tomorrow.  But, I'm still maturing as both a man and a boxer.  I've time on my side and we'll take a look at when I'll next have a fight at a later stage.”

If Lee is given the all-clear by medics, he hopes to be back in the ring before the end of the Summer.

At the weekend, the three scoring judges awarded Lee victory by 60-51, 60-53 and 59-55.

He took charge of the fight from the opening-bell, off-loading sharp crisp punches and troubled his Latvian opponent with a heavy blow in the opening round.  Lee dominated the second round too but found Fedetovs a little more bother in the third.   However, much of what Fedetovs threw was wild, allowing Lee to score well with counter lefts.  Seemingly content with his lot, the Limerickman took his foot off the gas for the next couple of rounds.

Lee's win was secured in the final round (6) when he sent Fedetovs to the canvas with a glancing left to the chin.  Despite rising before the count end, Fedetovs was clearly a beaten boxer for those closing 90 seconds.  The success improved Lee's pro record to

18-1.

“It wasn't my best performance, but it's a win all the same,” Lee said.  “Still, I see it as another building block in moving my career forward in the right direction.  It was a real honour to be on the card of a sold-out venue.”

The contest, which was covered live by Sky Sports, was on the undercard of Wladimir Klitschko (Ukraine) against Ruslan Chagaev (Uzbekistan), with the former retaining his IBF and WBO World Heavyweight titles.  It drew a capacity attendance of a little over 60,000.

Meanwhile, tickets are on sale for Jamie Power's July 25th bout with John Waldron of Mayo at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin.

Power, who was associated with Lee's club St. Francis BC before turning professional, is unbeaten in his five outings in the paid ranks.  A win for Power next month would most likely set up an Irish title bid against Jim Rock (Dublin).  Run by Hyland Promotions, tickets for the Dublin contest are priced at €50 and are available at 061/422244.
