SOCCER Paul Walsh won the Irish Universities Harding Cup for University of Limerick with the game’s only goal against UCC at Coleraine.
Walsh’s winner came when he picked up a perfect pass from skipper Liam Barrett on the edge of the box and hit a left-footed drive past the helpless Eoin Kelly. RUGBY Limerickman Eoin Reddan has penned a new two-year contract at Wasps. The 27-year-old, who is keeping Peter Stringer out of the Irish Team, has committed himself to the European Champions until the end of the 2009-10 season. He joined the London outfit from Munster in Summer 2005 as back-up to Matt Dawson but quickly established himself as first choice and has captained the side on several occasions this season. Reddan said: “I’ve learned a lot in the last two-and-a-half years at Wasps and I do feel there is more to come.” Commented the club’s Director of Rugby Ian McGeechan: “Eoin has become a very important part of what we do and how we do it.”
