A Four point gap has opened-up after the second round (foursomes) of the Spring League at Adare Manor GC.
Billy O’Shaughnessy’s team now have a clear advantage over TG Geary’s selection, with the side captained by Mick Barry next on 146 points.
The other top-eight positions are filled by those skippered by Damien Moloney, Martin, Costello, John O’Gorman (Club Captain), Ger Considine and Paul Griffin.
The leading eight teams after next week will qualify for the knock out stages of this prestigious early-season championship.
Barry Ryan and Mattie Hayes returned the best score of the second round, a respectable 38 points.
On the seniors front, Sean Hickey and Pat Dineen (37 points) made a familiar appearance in the winners’ enclosure.
Two rounds of the Tony Connolly sponsored Spring League at Limerick County have now also been completed, with around 150 members involved.
Paddy Ryan, with a cracking 32 points for 12 holes, returned the top score in the second round.
The leading eight teams ahead of the final round are those captained by Charlie O’Neill, John Keogh, Paudie Hehir, Ger Lowe, Diarmuid O’Driscoll, Mike Molyneaux, Bart O’Brien (senior) and TJ Walsh.
Of the 30 or so teams competing, 16 of those are on 190 points and all in contention for quarterfinal places. The final is listed for Sunday week, March 9th.
At Charville GC, its Spring League is also climaxing towards the business end!
On the ladies front at the north cork venue, Alice South gave an exhibition to win the weekly singles, with Helen Smith a distant second.
In the gross category, Sheila Cliffor showed plenty of early-season form to land the spoils.
